We're Launching The Magnified Giving Alumni Network!

At Magnified Giving, we have long recognized the value and importance of engaging with our program alumni. Youth who completed the Magnified Giving program at their schools or through nonprofit youth programming and alumni of Camp Give hold a unique key to understanding the impact of our programming. Our mission is to develop lifelong philanthropists, and we believe that philanthropy education can inspire a love for service and give youth the tools and knowledge they need to live philanthropically from a young age and for their whole lives, which benefits both them and their community.

Magnified Giving enters its 15th year at the start of the 2022-2023 school year, which means that our oldest alumni - those who completed Magnified Giving in its inaugural year in 2008 - are 32+ years old! These and many of our alumni are now young adults developing careers, educations, families, and we are sure that many of them are giving to others and serving their communities. Their experiences and journeys since completing the Magnified Giving program can help us understand the impact of our program and refine our process to magnify the effects of philanthropy education. For this reason, we are thrilled to launch the Magnified Giving Alumni Network!

When our alumni join the Magnified Giving Alumni Network, we are able to stay connected to them through a quarterly newsletter where we share 1) upcoming events, 2) opportunities to engage with Magnified Giving, and 3) resources and encouragement to continue on in their philanthropic journeys. We sent our first quarterly newsletter in February 2022, and we will continue to send a newsletter each May, August, November, and February. Each one is intended to be helpful, light-hearted, and filled with practical opportunities and tips about growing as a philanthropist!

Importantly, we’re also communicating opportunities for our alumni to share their stories so that we can continue to build alumni profiles to share with our donors and supporters. We know that alumni profiles like those appearing on page 8 of our Annual Impact Report help supporters see the long-lasting impacts of their gifts on the lives of youth and those they serve throughout their lives. We are also excited to begin collecting critical data from our alumni through an annual survey to support measurable outcomes. We are excited to have the foundation to stay connected with our alumni so that we can make a meaningful effort of collecting annual survey data. We know that understanding the long-term impact of our programming on alumni will ultimately help us make our philanthropy education more robust, demonstrate the value of this work, and fuel program expansion.

Are you curious how we got to this point?

Our Next Gen Ambassador team, made up of alumni, during a virtual meeting in February 2021. This awesome group gave of their time and talent to help us establish our way forward to engage with alumni.

From January 2021 - November 2021, a group of ten alumni formed a group called the Next Gen Ambassadors to help us explore the best way to engage with our alumni. Through a series of virtual meetings, these alumni helped us weigh the many possibilities for connecting with alumni, from cohort-style alumni advisory groups to simple social media groups. Ultimately, we've determined that the best open would be a no-frills, straightforward option to suit our busy alumni. We know they're busy going to school, starting careers, starting families, serving their communities, and more, so we wanted to develop a way to stay connected and encourage alumni in their philanthropy journeys without adding unnecessary events or cumbersome programming to their lives.

Are you an alumni of the Magnified Giving Youth Philanthropy Program or Camp Give?
