Cleveland Rape Crisis Center provides life-changing and life-saving services to survivors of rape and sexual assault in Northeast Ohio. We have been doing so free of charge since 1974. Community support for CRCC enables this organization to provide services to all survivors, eliminating economic status as an obstacle to recovery. Our goal is to offer proactive and reactive services to all members of the community in need of the care provided.

In 2015, over 25,000 people, one-third of them youth, have found support by participating in CRCC's therapy, advocacy and education programs. Because 90% of rape victims are women, the majority of Cleveland Rape Crisis Center’s clients are female. Sixty-five percent of clients are aged 18 or older, while the remaining 35% are aged 17 or younger. CRCC’s client base is ethnically diverse, as rape occurs at alarming rates across all ethnic groups.

Cleveland Rape Crisis Center is the only local organization with a specialized mission to meet the community’s need for sexual assault services. A comprehensive range of programs and services are provided to survivors, their non-offending family members or friends, and anyone else in the community who needs support or information related to rape and sexual assault. Without CRCC, survivors of these crimes would have nowhere to turn for comparable services.

The Center utilizes system-wide best practices when working with the unique mental health needs of survivors. A team of highly trained staff provide direct services, crisis intervention, advocacy, prevention education and trainings for professionals. Currently, the Center employs 50 staff members. The Center’s staff members are seen as leaders and experts within the field, regularly approached to mentor and train other service providers. CRCC is recognized as an innovator on a national level. Over 100 specially trained volunteers contribute the equivalent service hours of nine full-time staff. These dedicated individuals ensure the hotline, hospital advocacy and justice system advocacy services are available 24 hours each day, seven days a week. A board of directors comprised of 32 community leaders governs the organization and assists in program oversight and assessment, fund development and strategic planning.
